TIMBER TONE AUSTRALIA
The Guff;
My mission with Timber Tone is to sustainably create beautiful, timber inspired pieces and share the journey.

I believe that sustainability is everyone’s responsibility. To embrace this thinking, I always strive to be connected to the source materials; through using salvaged or upcycled materials and self-milled or ethically & responsibly sourced timber.

I consider the creation of stunning and unique pieces as being more than simply a matter of design and construction and aspire to tease out the hidden beauty of even the most common or mundane materials.

Finally, I think that sharing the journey is the most important part. I try to show every project's evolution; revealing the transformation, and ultimately fruition, into an interesting piece.

ABOUT ME
Where do I live;
I have lived in the Fraser Coast region of Queensland, Australia my whole life. My area is semi-rural, so I have had the opportunity to grow up around the bush.
As I got more into woodworking, this gave me a real appreciation for the beauty and strength of the native hardwoods. I have also seen urbanisation slowly convert more bushland into housing plots around where I live.

What formal qualifications do I hold;
I have worked in the plumbing field my whole career.
I have trade certificates for plumbing/drainage/gasfitting and the majority of my work has been in commercial/industrial maintenance. This aspect of plumbing is reasonably diverse and I have experience in; pipefitting, drainage & sanitary plumbing, tradewaste, roofing and sheetmetal, hot & cold water and rainwater tank manufacturing, cleaning and maintenance.
Complimenting this experience, I hold a restricted electrical licence and on-site wastewater design & install/maintain endorsements.
I am also trained as a hydraulic consultant which is essentially a plumbing engineer.
In regards to woodworking; I have no formal qualifications or training. I’m pretty curious in general and after adopting the hobby I dove in headfirst.
I do have a good mate who is a timber joiner by trade and has provided some valuable insight over the course of my ‘career’.
My general interests;
I have a keen interest in learning new things and furthering my knowledge in existing pursuits.

Woodworking has become my main hobby but I also like to play guitar renovate my house.
My Workshop Setup
My workshop is in a double bay garage measuring approximately 7m x 6m, that is solidly closed on three sides and partially closed on the fourth. The climate here is sub-tropical, so winter temperatures aren’t really an issue. General moisture is a bit of a problem as I don’t have an effective way of isolating my workshop from outside with the open fourth wall.
The workshop is split into roughly two main areas; machining side and hand work/assembly side. I have a shop made table on castors that hold my smaller machines. The rest are arranged around the perimeter of the shop. The other side has my bench.
In the general scope of things, it would be somewhere in the small to medium sized setup. It does get a little pokey in there as I’m continually trying to cram more gear in and have multiple projects on the go at any one time. I have found it works well for small and furniture sized pieces but it’s a bit small for larger pieces and I can’t effectively handle sheet stock in there.
